Conventional handpiece lubrication machine rely solely on external air supply pressure to force lubricant out from the machine. The instability air pressure causes inconsistent oil flow (excessive or insufficient output), which frequently leads to visible oily residue during sterilization and results in failed sterilization that requires reprocessing.

The term "visible oily residue" for sterilized dental handpieces refers to lubricant leakage inside the sterilization pouches after steam pressure sterilization, leaving wet stains or oily patches on the packaging paper. Per regulation for disinfection and sterilization technique of dental instruments, visible oily residue indicate sterilization failure, such instruments cannot be dispensed for clinical use and need to undergo repeated cleaning and sterilization.
